SHADE
Society for Human-Rights, Aid and Democracy for Eelam
This is a well thought out acronym, appreciated by many, coined in as early as in December, 2002. During that period, there was a de-facto government in Vanni. Got the blessing of our National Leader.
The three aspects of Human Rights, Aid and Democracy are very vital for a budding independent nation like Tamil ‘Eelam’ that depends mainly on the Tamil Diaspora for its well being.
Society
This is the Tamil society in the U.K, the expatriate Tamil community in this country. We are generally hard working, intelligent and industrious people. We are supposed to be a successful community, living with dignity and respect. We respect other communities living here. We are also giving due respect and attention to our tradition and culture, something very important to our society.
We have another important responsibility and duty in that we can’t afford to dissociate our kith and kin back home. ‘Emma Makkal, Emm Mann Marakkalama?’.
Let us communicate, face criticism, and bring out a new enlightenment and give new dimension to our great struggle.
For Human- Rights,
Respect for human- rights with absolute justice is a prerequisite for peaceful living. Ideals have to be put into action. We all have to remember always that the Western countries will condemn human rights abuses in other countries only when it suits them, and gloss over elsewhere, and keep silent depending absolutely on their strategic military and economic interests.
Aid
This is an important duty and an obligation to channel some of our earnings to the needy ones in Eelam. This is something all can do, depending on whatever one can afford.
and Democracy
Democracy is not for the convenience for the majority. Its principles must apply to the peaceful co-existence of the minorities as well. We all should realize that the Tamils no longer could be fooled in Sri Lanka and taking this hard truth to the international community is our sacred duty.
It is high time that the Tamils realized that they can’t afford anymore to fall victims of carefully crafted stories by the media national and foreign. To achieve our goal of nationhood, Tamil Eelam, we have to work in a meaningful, conciliated way. We must explain our grievances to the world audience and our anti-Eelam Tamils. We have to work with them too.
for Eelam
This is our goal, our soul, our identity; in short everything, not to forget the great sacrifice made by our gallant fighters, our sons and daughters, and our brothers and sisters. It is a challenge and we must make it.
